Laser Target Finder

The red spot of a class 2 laser beam helps to find the target on the substrate quickly.

Dual Laser Module

Dual Laser Module

The Dual Laser Module has been developed to ease the adjustment of the FINEPLACER®'s two object planes, to avoid parallax errors in case of stereoscopic view. It works on the principle of optical triangulation, projecting light spots on both substrate surface and component underside. When looking through the microscope or on the monitor, these spots appear as an overlay image.

When changing the height of the positioning table, the lower light spot moves to the left or right, whereas the upper spot will move whenever the upper pivot arm position is changed. Once the Dual Laser Module is mounted to the base module and electrically connected, it has to be adjusted to the specific FINEPLACER® before the first use. After that, it will work maintenance free.

Laser Target Finder: principle of operation

Operation:

1. Look through the microscope and you will see two light spots as an overlay image.

2. If available, first turn the positioning table's height adjustment screw to achieve the correct working height of the surface on which you want to bond. This guarantees perfect parallelism between chip and substrate during placement.

3. Turn the UAP screw until the two light spots appear on the same x position.

After having carried out these three steps you can be sure that the two objects, substrate and component, are in full height coincidence within the FINEPLACER®'s optical system.
