The side dispenser module offers the possibility to apply viscous media dosed and precisely. The module can be used independently from the alignment system. Its construction allows three degrees of freedom (x, y, z) relating to the FINEPLACER®'s optical system, and thus it makes application of e.g. conductive glue possible, after the chip has been optically aligned, and without the necessity of shifting the substrate.
The dispensing of the viscous medium can be viewed by the optical means of the alignment system. As the alignment of the component has already be completed before the dispensing, the now following placement and bonding procedure can be very accurate.
The application of media after placement, e.g. for underfilling, is possible too. This needs a vision system that allows viewing the dispensing procedure from the side. E.g. an additional microscope could be used for this.
Double sided or line shaped media application are possible by using special dispense cannulas or moving the dispenser in x or y direction. For using this module, it has to be equipped with a dispenser usual in the trade. Please ask for more information about this tool, because its design must be adapted to the viscosity of the medium to be dispensed.

The Dispenser RD3 is an additional module for the FINEPLACER® Pico. It is capable of dispensing glue or solder paste onto the working plane of the FINEPLACER®. The metering valve is a single-screw-extruder, the material to be dispensed is fed in usual dispenser cartridges from 3 ccm to 30 ccm. The material is administered by dispenser needles.
The movements of the dispenser are realized by two computer-controlled pneumatic cylinders. The dispensing results can be observed through the main optic or, if present, a side camera.
